Swimming Lesson Registration is now underway.
Poquoson Pool provides swimming lessons for youth throughout the summer season. Both preschool and youth level lessons 1-5 are available. All instructors are WSI certified American Red Cross Instructors.
Poquoson Barracuda Swim Team Season Info Meeting
The Poquoson Barracudas swim at the Poquoson Pool, each summer and hold registration in Mid-April each spring. This summer league swim team typically begins practice in Mid-May, near Memorial Day and the season Runs thru Early August. The Swim Team is open to kids thru age 18. We welcome new swimmers each season and the team participates in the GPSA Swim League on the peninsula with 21 other teams. The 2018 Barracuda Registration and Informational meeting will be held on April 25 at 6:30pm at the Municipal Building.
Women's Kickball League
Season runs mid May thru early July 2018. All team packets, league information, and 2018 rules will be available March 27, 2018 at the Community Recreation Office or emailed to interested captains. Team Fee is $400.00. Team fee and team registration will be accepted from April 30 thru May 4 at the Community Recreation Office. No team registration will be accepted after the deadline. Boating Safety Course
Virginia now requires all operators of boats and personal water craft to take a Safe Boating and Jet Ski Course. The Virginia Boater Education Course is offered free at Poquoson Municipal Building, thanks to Poquoson Community Recreation and Coast Guard Flotilla 63- Poquoson. Class Offerings for Spring of 2018: March 12 & 14 6:00-9:30pm each evening. (Must attend both sessions)May 21 & 23 6:00-9:30pm(Must attend both sessions)All registrations are taken online at http://www.register-ed.com/programs/73 Class registration is free, however per-registration is required online, register early space is limited
Pistol and Gun Safety Course
Learn firearms safety, law and familiarization of handguns and ammunition, how to handle a weapon safely, and laws regarding use of firearms in self-defense. This one evening course will cover many do’s and don’ts for carrying a weapon for self defense. As part of the course those students who wish to later apply for a concealed handgun permit may take a written test, and upon successful completion of the test, a certificate will be provided that will allow them to apply for a Virginia Concealed Weapons Permit with the local court. No gun ownership required. If you have a gun do not bring it to class until the instructor instructs you to do so. Class open to anyone age 21 or older. This course meets one evening. Time: 6-9pm. Location: Municipal Building Cost per student: $55 residents/non-residents: $65 Each course limited to 10 students. Program #109Must register 5 days in advance of the course.
