Poquoson Parks and Recreation Sponsors Youth Athletic Leagues annually, for Fall Youth Soccer, Spring Youth Soccer, youth volleyball leagues, and Winter Youth Basketball League, and various Field Hockey Leagues Periodically during the calendar year

Hoop It Up Basketball Ages 4-6


Together parent and child will work to learn passing, dribbling, and shooting skills. This program is not a league experience but an interactive skills program designed to teach the skills of basketball using fun games. Each player receives a junior basketball as part of the program. Open to Boys and Girls. Each player needs a parent present at each session ready to participate. Must be 4 by start of program.

Baseball Hitters & Fielders Clinic


Get game ready in the pre-season by attending these Sunday clinics designed to improve hitting and fundamental fielding skills.

Dates: Sundays, January 22, 29, & February 5
Sessions for grades 4-7  3:00-4:15pm #126 A
Grades: 8-12 4:30-5:45pm  #126 B
Location: Poquoson High School Gym
Attend each session for $20 per session or attend all 3 for $50. Non-residents additional $10

Spring Recreation League Soccer

The recreation youth soccer league is now accepting registrations for the spring season of 2017. All teams are co-ed.  Youngest Players: Those able to participate in the U7 age division must currently be attending  Kindergarten. Those in Pre-K are not eligible to play.

Coaches are usually parent volunteers.   Cost to play is $65.00. 

Registration is due February 24, 2017

Additional $10.00 for non-residents. $5 sibling discount after first registered player.
Registration is taken on a first come, first served basis thru the deadline of  February 24, 2017   Program #100S

The league will be divided as follows:

U7 ages 5 and 6 not yet age  7 by May 31, 2017

U9 ages 7 and 8 not yet age  9 by  May 31, 2017

U11 ages 9 and 10 not yet age 11 by May 31, 2017

U13 ages 11 and 12 not yet age 13 by May  31, 2017

U16 ages 13, 14, 15 not yet age 16 by May  31, 2017

All registrations are numbered as they are received. The only guarantee for children to play is for parents to coach. No special requests are accepted for team placements or carpools. There is no guarantee of game time or practice nights for players. If an insufficient number of children register  or coaches cannot be secured for any age  group, the fees will be refunded. Older age groups typically play games with surrounding military bases & recreational programs, both in Poquoson and other nearby locations.

If you would like to move a child up into an older age group this must be noted on the form at the time of registration and a special request form to do so must be completed. Children may only move up into an age division if they are at the eldest of their current age group. All registrations received after February 24 will be charged a  $15 late fee  and placed on a waiting list.  There is no guarantee for placement on a team after the deadline or from the waiting list. form and a check or credit card number must be provided. Avoid Panic!
